Remember the 1980’s when waterbeds were all the rage? I thought they were so cool when I was a kid. But then waterbeds fell out of favor, probably because they need some tedious maintenance, are bad for your back, and causes massive damage if they leak.
So maybe waterbeds are not such a good idea. But what about something smaller, like a water-filled chair (a “water chair” is an inflatable chair that goes into a pool, so we’ll call this one a “water-filled chair”)?
I did a search on Google to see if anyone is selling a water-filled chair and came up empty. All I found was an expired patent from 1980 called “water-filled chair.”
What does all this mean? There’s an opportunity here to invent a new kind of chair and make millions! Here’s how you can do it:
- Read through the Water-filled Chair patent carefully.
- Research why the water-filled chair was not commercially successful.
- Research why waterbeds fell out of favor.
- Tweak the invention described in the Water-filled Chair patent to fix the flaws that caused them to fail and fall out of favor.
- Hustle and get your new and improved water-filled chair to market! (this is the hardest part)
Note that the Water-filled Chair patent has been expired for over twenty years, so you won’t run into any patent infringement issues with it. Of course, just like with any business or product, you should always do your own due diligence to make sure you don’t trample on anybody else’s intellectual property or branding.
