Wouldn’t it be useful sometimes if you could send a message to everyone at a specific location?
For instance, you could send a message to everyone at a local restaurant asking if it’s crowded. Or if you lost your keys at a park, you could send a message to anyone at the park to look out for a pair of lost keys. Or if you saw something concerning on the news, you could send a message to everyone at that location to check if everything is okay.
All of this is probably best implemented as a standalone mobile phone app, integrated with a location application like Google Maps, or integrated with a social media application like Facebook.
On the receiving end, you could open the app and see messages from strangers. They may be time-sensitive questions about that location. Or they may be other people at the same location looking for someone to chat with. Anyone at that location can respond to messages sent to that location (as an implementation issue, it would probably be helpful to include a tag next to messages sent by people at the location to differentiate between people at the location and people outside of the location).
Because of network effects associated with applications of this type, there should be some type of rewards system to encourage people to use the app when they visit different locations. One possible system could be a points system that offers real-life rewards, such as discounts at participating locations. As an example, the app could award you a 10% off coupon at Starbucks if you send a message through the app while at a Starbucks location.
