Some important personal items are just prone to loss. Keys, remote controls, and children’s stuffed animals come to mind.
Wouldn’t it be helpful if we could find lost keys, remote controls, and stuffed animals quickly and easily? One solution is to put trackers on them.
I’ve seen many personal item trackers come and go. The ones we’ve seen in the past each have a fatal flaw, such as having short battery life, being too big, or too expensive.
A good personal item tracker should:
- be as small as possible
- have some kind of location tracking like GPS
- have a way for strangers to locate the owner
- allow for finding the item in close proximity, such as by making sounds
- have long battery life (preferably several years)
- being waterproof is a big plus
Put on your engineering hat. Are you up for the challenge of designing the perfect personal item tracker?
