Everyone should have internet access to any public camera in the world. Any owner of a public-facing camera should have the option to add the live camera feed to map software such as Google Maps or MapQuest (maybe the addition of such a feature could propel MapQuest back to relevance!).
Every public store or restaurant should have cameras. There can be a massive global network of public video cameras accessible through popular map software. Wondering how long the lines are at the local amusement park? Check the camera. Want to see if it’s snowing in Denver? Check the camera. Curious about Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans? Check the camera.
This will also help with solving crimes. Most public places will be recorded and watched. All but the most savvy criminals will be caught.
You might think that it’s creepy to know that you may be watched whenever you go out in public. But the truth is, there are already cameras everywhere. They’re just not all accessible in one place.
