The Republic of Palau is a Pacific island nation of about 21,000 people spread over 250 islands. Palau is located in the Pacific Ocean roughly at the center of the triangle formed by the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and Guam.
I visited as part of a tour group out of Taiwan in 2004.
The view outside our hotel room.
Crystal clear waters.
One of the hundreds of beaches.
Overlooking the bay in Koror.
One of the jellyfish from Jellyfish Lake (at the aquarium). The lake was completely landlocked for thousands of years and the jellyfish in the lake have lost most of their stinging ability. We got to snorkel in Jellyfish Lake among the hundreds of thousands of jellyfish, but sadly have no pictures to prove it.
A traditional Palauan hut.
I think this was called Snake Island, because it looks like a snake head.
Sunset.
A beach in Koror.
This is called Milk Lake, because the sediments in the water make it white like milk.
Some islands and reefs.
The tour guide said Yahoo! made a television commercial of this island because of the distinctive palm trees in the center.
